Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the WD setup/driver package as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and connect the MyBookWorld by Ethernet to the same router as the PC. Do not use a USB-only workflow; this is a network drive.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the PC and MyBookWorld are on the same subnet, enable Network Discovery and File Sharing, allow SMB through Windows Firewall, and map it by IP (e.g. `\192.168.1.50`). For older firmware, enable SMB 1.0/CIFS support if required.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older WD Discovery/WD SmartWare or previous MyBookWorld utilities, reboot, then install the correct 32/64-bit package. Avoid mixing old and new WD tools; update firmware before retrying.
