Question 1

Installer fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the scanner, run the Mustek setup as administrator, and use Windows compatibility mode for older OS versions. Remove any previous Mustek scanner software before retrying.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the A3 USB scanner directly to a USB 2.0 port, not a hub. Check Device Manager for unknown/USB errors, try a different cable/port, then reinstall the driver.

Question 3

Driver or TWAIN/WIA conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing Mustek, TWAIN, and WIA scanner entries in Device Manager and Programs and Features. Reboot, then install only the matching 32-bit/64-bit driver for this ScanExpress model.
