Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The BearPaw 1200 uses legacy scanner drivers that may fail on newer Windows. Run the installer as Administrator in Windows compatibility mode, and temporarily disable driver signature enforcement if the driver is unsigned.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the scanner directly to a rear USB port, not a hub. Check Device Manager for “Unknown Device”; install the Mustek driver before reconnecting, then power-cycle the scanner.

Question 3

Version/TWAIN conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Mustek scanner software and TWAIN drivers via Apps & Features and Device Manager, reboot, then install the correct 32/64-bit package. In your scanning app, explicitly select the BearPaw 1200 TWAIN source.
