Author: MultiTech

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the MultiTech driver installer as Administrator, match the package to your Windows architecture, and temporarily close security software. If a previous MultiTech modem driver exists, uninstall it in Device Manager, reboot, then reinstall.

Question 2

Modem not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the USB cable and try a rear USB 2.0 port directly on the PC. In Device Manager, look under “Ports (COM & LPT)” or “Other devices” for an unknown/USB serial device; update that device manually to the MultiTech driver.

Question 3

COM port or version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove stale COM-port entries and old driver versions, reboot, and let Windows reassign the port. Confirm the assigned COM number in Device Manager and use that same port in your dial-up/terminal software.
