Name: MTK USB Port (COM5) Driver
Author: MediaTek

Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t load?

Accepted Answer

Windows may block the MediaTek USB VCOM/Preloader driver due to signature enforcement. Temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, reinstall the signed MTK USB VCOM driver, then reboot.

Question 2

Device not detected / COM5 missing?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB 2.0 port and a known-good data cable, then reconnect the device in preloader/BROM mode. In Device Manager, check for “MTK USB Port” with a warning icon and manually update/install the MediaTek USB VCOM driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts / wrong COM port?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older MediaTek USB VCOM, Preloader, and ADB drivers, including driver software, reboot, then install one matching driver package. If COM5 is busy, assign an unused COM number in Device Manager.
