Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t load?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as administrator, check Device Manager for error codes, and reboot after installation. If using an unsigned MStar package, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement.

Question 2

Device not detected / no COM port?

Accepted Answer

Try a different USB cable and port, avoid unpowered hubs, and confirm the adapter appears under Ports (COM & LPT). Reinstall with the device connected and check USB power-saving settings.

Question 3

Version conflicts or wrong COM port?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing MStar USB Serial entries, including hidden devices, remove old driver packages, then install the manufacturer’s latest version. Note the assigned COM number and update your serial application.
