Question 1

Radio not detected in CPS?

Accepted Answer

The USB programming cable may be assigned a COM port that Motorola CPS is not using. Check Device Manager under Ports, confirm the cable driver is installed, and select the matching COM port in the CPS software.

Question 2

Driver install fails or is blocked?

Accepted Answer

Older Motorola cable drivers may fail on Windows 10/11 without admin rights or compatibility settings. Run the installer as administrator, reboot, and use the driver version recommended for your cable and CPS release.

Question 3

COM port/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Multiple USB-serial drivers or a previously installed cable can cause conflicts. Uninstall old drivers and stale COM ports in Device Manager, reboot, then install only the correct driver for the XTS 4000 programming cable.
