Name: Motorola VU204 Driver
Author: Motorola

Question 1

Install fails on Windows 10/11?

Accepted Answer

The older Motorola VU204 USB modem driver may be blocked by driver signature enforcement. Run the installer as administrator, use a compatible Motorola USB driver package, or temporarily disable signature enforcement during install; reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

The VU204 may be in charging-only mode. On the phone, set USB connection to Modem/PC Sync, use a data-capable cable, and plug directly into a rear USB port. Check Device Manager for an unknown Motorola USB Modem/COM port.

Question 3

Driver version conflict?

Accepted Answer

Existing Motorola/Qualcomm modem drivers can override the VU204 package. In Device Manager, uninstall the old Motorola USB Modem and Composite Device entries with “Delete the driver software,” reboot, then install the current driver.
