Name: Motorola Scanner Virtual USB COM Port (COM3) Driver
Author: Motorola

Question 1

Install fails or COM3 is not created?

Accepted Answer

Run the Motorola/Symbol driver installer as administrator, remove any older virtual COM port driver, reboot, then reconnect the scanner. Confirm COM3 appears under Ports in Device Manager.

Question 2

Scanner not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct USB port and a data-capable cable, power-cycle the scanner, and check that it is in USB virtual COM/CDC mode rather than HID keyboard mode. Rescan for hardware.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall conflicting Motorola/Symbol COM port entries, install the driver version matching your scanner model and Windows architecture, and free COM3 if another device is using it.
