Name: Motorola SB5100 Driver
Author: Motorola

Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

The SB5100’s USB driver is legacy and may be blocked on Windows 10/11. Prefer Ethernet, which needs no driver. If USB is required, run the Motorola package as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for an unknown USB device, try another USB port/cable, and power-cycle the SB5100. Confirm the coax connection and ISP provisioning; Ethernet is the more reliable connection for this cable modem.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older SURFboard USB drivers and remove hidden devices in Device Manager, then reboot before installing the matching package. Avoid mixing multiple Motorola modem driver versions.
