The M Audio MIDISPORT Uno 1×1 connects MIDI instruments and controllers to a Windows PC through USB. Its driver enables compatible music software to communicate with the interface, allowing you to record MIDI performances, send note data, and control external MIDI equipment. For Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, check that the selected M-Audio driver package explicitly supports your operating system before installing.
Key Features
- MIDI input and output: Supports communication through the Uno’s single MIDI input and single MIDI output, connecting your computer with compatible keyboards, sound modules, and other MIDI hardware.
- Integration with music software: Makes the interface available to compatible digital audio workstations, MIDI sequencers, and utilities for recording and playback.
- Two-way device communication: Allows incoming performance data to reach your software while outgoing MIDI messages control connected equipment.
- Windows device recognition: Helps Windows identify and use the interface correctly when the appropriate driver is required. The Uno carries MIDI data, not recorded audio.
How to Install
- Check your Windows version. Confirm whether your PC runs Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, and check its system type. Choose a driver specifically listed for the M Audio MIDISPORT Uno 1×1 and your Windows configuration; do not assume an older package supports newer systems.
- Prepare the computer. Close your music applications and review any instructions included with the download. If the installer requires the interface to remain disconnected during setup, unplug it before continuing.
- Run the installer. Extract the downloaded package if necessary, then launch the setup program. Approve the Windows permission prompt and follow the installation instructions. Restart the computer if requested.
- Connect your MIDI equipment. Attach the Uno to a USB port, preferably directly on the computer. Connect its MIDI IN plug to your instrument’s MIDI OUT socket, and its MIDI OUT plug to the instrument’s MIDI IN socket.
- Select the interface in your software. Open your music application’s MIDI settings and enable the Uno’s input and output ports as needed. Play a few notes to check incoming activity, then test MIDI playback to the external instrument. If no data appears, recheck the cable direction, MIDI channels, and port selections.
