Question 1

Installer fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Close other KensingtonWorks installers, uninstall any older KensingtonWorks entry, reboot, then run the latest SlimBlade-compatible installer as administrator. Temporarily pause antivirus if it blocks the driver.

Question 2

Trackball not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct USB port, not a hub; try another cable/port and confirm the trackball’s ball moves freely. Test on another PC to rule out the device; if detected there, reinstall KensingtonWorks.

Question 3

Version conflicts/button mapping lost?

Accepted Answer

Remove all KensingtonWorks versions, reboot, and install only the current release for your Windows version. Avoid mixing installers from other Kensington trackballs; reconnect the SlimBlade and reapply button/scroll-ring settings.
