Name: JMicron OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller Driver
Author: JMicron

Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

The JMicron IEEE 1394 package may be blocked by Windows driver signing or a mismatched INF. Run the installer as administrator, use the correct 32/64-bit package, and check Device Manager for the exact error code before reinstalling.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the FireWire cable and port are working, then rescan hardware in Device Manager. If the OHCI controller shows a warning, try the built-in Windows 1394 OHCI legacy driver; also check BIOS/UEFI for IEEE 1394 being disabled.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old 1394 host-controller entries and vendor driver remnants before installing the JMicron driver. If instability starts after an update, roll back to the previous working 1394 OHCI driver and avoid mixing drivers from different vendors.
