Author: J&W

Question 1

Installer fails or exits early?

Accepted Answer

Intel G31 chipset/VGA packages may reject newer Windows versions. Run setup as administrator in Compatibility Mode for Windows Vista/7, install the chipset INF first, then reboot before audio/LAN/VGA drivers.

Question 2

Onboard device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check BIOS that onboard LAN, audio, and VGA are enabled. Install the chipset INF before other drivers, then inspect Device Manager for unknown devices or error codes.

Question 3

Driver version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Windows Update may replace the J&W/Realtek/Intel package with a generic driver. Create a restore point, uninstall the conflicting driver and delete its software, reboot, install the matching package, then pause automatic driver updates or roll back if needed.
