Name: Iomega USB Zip 250 Driver
Author: Iomega

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

The Zip 250 USB utility was built for XP/Vista-era systems. Run Setup.exe in Compatibility Mode (Windows XP SP3) as Administrator, or manually install the driver via Device Manager → Update driver → Browse → "Let me pick" → Have Disk, pointing to the `.inf` file.

Question 2

Device not detected / unknown USB device?

Accepted Answer

Try a powered USB 2.0 hub and a different port; the Zip 250 draws more current than some ports supply. Check Device Manager for the drive under USB controllers, and confirm the disk is inserted before power-up so the drive spins up and enumerates.

Question 3

Version conflicts or "driver not intended for this platform"?

Accepted Answer

Remove any existing Iomega/zip drivers and leftover entries in Device Manager (View → Show hidden devices), reboot, then install only one driver package. On 64-bit Windows, unsigned legacy drivers require disabling driver signature enforcement at boot.
