Name: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver
Author: IDT

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the IDT installer as administrator in Windows compatibility mode, disconnect audio accessories, uninstall the old IDT package via Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers, reboot, then reinstall the OEM-specific package for your exact laptop/desktop model.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Enable HD Audio in BIOS/UEFI, disable Fast Startup, open Device Manager and show hidden devices, then scan for hardware changes. If it appears with a warning icon, uninstall it and reboot so Windows re-enumerates the codec.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Windows Update may replace IDT with the generic Microsoft High Definition Audio Device. Use Roll Back Driver, reinstall the correct IDT/OEM version, and temporarily pause automatic driver updates to prevent overwrite.
