Name: IBM ULTRIUM TD5 SCSI Sequential Device Driver
Author: IBM

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the package matches your Windows version and architecture. Extract the IBM TD5 driver and update manually via Device Manager > Tape drive > Update driver > Browse. Run setup as administrator and reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check SCSI cabling, termination, and unique SCSI IDs; verify the HBA sees the TD5 in its BIOS/configuration utility. Install/update the SCSI HBA driver, then rescan in Device Manager. Confirm it appears under Tape drives, not as an unknown SCSI device.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old IBM or native Windows tape drivers and stale device entries, then install the matching IBM TD5 driver. Avoid mixing LTFS and tape-driver packages; update drive and HBA firmware to supported versions.
