Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The M52’s OEM packages often require the correct Windows version (typically XP/Vista 32-bit) and admin rights. Run setup as administrator; if it still fails, update manually in Device Manager via “Have Disk” and select the package’s .inf file.

Question 2

Onboard device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check BIOS that onboard audio/network is enabled, then install the Intel chipset INF first so the M52’s PCI devices enumerate. In Device Manager, show hidden devices and rescan for hardware changes.

Question 3

Version conflicts/older IBM driver reinstalled?

Accepted Answer

Windows may keep an older OEM driver. Uninstall the device and tick “Delete driver software,” reboot, then install the matching M52 package; do not force a newer generic driver if its device ID is not listed.
