Name: IBM Proprinter X24e Driver
Author: IBM

Question 1

Install fails on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

The IBM Proprinter X24e uses legacy drivers. If setup is blocked by driver signing or 16-bit installer errors, use a supported legacy Windows version/VM or compatible mode; do not force-install an unsigned package.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the printer is connected to a working parallel/LPT port, enable LPT in BIOS, reseat the cable, and avoid unknown USB-to-parallel adapters unless confirmed compatible.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove existing IBM Proprinter or generic text-only printer queues, reboot, then install the correct X24e driver and assign the right LPT port. Avoid mixing 32-bit and 64-bit driver packages.
