Question 1

Install fails or driver is rejected?

Accepted Answer

Use Device Manager > Monitors > Update driver > Browse > Let me pick > Have Disk, then point to the IBM 9818 `.inf`. Run as administrator; if blocked by signing, use Windows compatibility settings or a signed driver package.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the monitor is powered on and the correct VGA/DVI input is selected. Reseat the cable, then in Device Manager scan for hardware changes. If only “Generic PnP Monitor” appears, update from the monitor branch manually.

Question 3

Version conflicts with Generic PnP Monitor?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the existing monitor driver and tick “Delete the driver software,” restart, then reinstall the IBM 9818 driver. Avoid mixing older IBM packages with Windows Update versions.
