Question 1

Install fails or driver is rejected?

Accepted Answer

The IBM LCD Monitor 9220 driver is legacy and may fail on modern Windows. Run the installer as administrator in Windows compatibility mode, or update manually via Device Manager > Monitors > IBM LCD Monitor 9220 > Update driver > Browse > Have Disk.

Question 2

Monitor not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check power, input source, and reseat the VGA/DVI cable; try another port or cable. In Device Manager, use Action > Scan for hardware changes. If only “Generic PnP Monitor” appears, install the IBM 9220 INF manually.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Windows replaces the driver?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the existing monitor driver and remove the device, then reboot and reinstall. If Windows Update overwrites it, roll back in Device Manager or temporarily block automatic driver updates.
