Question 1

Installer fails or stops midway?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the HiLink dongle, run the installer as administrator, and close other Huawei HiLink/mobile-broadband utilities. Reboot and retry; check SmartScreen or antivirus logs if Windows blocks the installer.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB port, preferably a rear desktop port, and reseat the dongle. Check Device Manager for unknown, CDC, or HiLink entries. If it appears only as storage/CD-ROM, eject that volume or use Huawei’s mode-switch utility, then reconnect.

Question 3

Version conflicts or old driver remains?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing Huawei HiLink software and Huawei mobile-broadband drivers via Apps & Features and Device Manager, reboot, then install the package matching your model. Avoid mixing generic Windows mobile-broadband drivers with Huawei HiLink drivers.
