Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older HTC Sync Manager/HTC USB Driver, reboot, then run the HTC One M8s driver installer as administrator. Close HTC Sync Manager and antivirus during setup.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use the original USB cable and a rear USB 2.0 port. On the M8s, select MTP/File Transfer (or PTP), and enable USB debugging for ADB. Check Device Manager for “HTC MTP Device” or “Android Phone” with a warning icon.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove duplicate HTC/Google ADB driver entries in Device Manager, reboot, and install only one HTC driver package. Avoid running HTC Sync Manager and a standalone HTC driver side by side.
