Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Run the HTC USB driver installer as administrator. If Windows blocks it, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, reboot, then reinstall the driver for the HTC Butterfly 2.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use the original USB cable and a direct USB 2.0 port. On the Butterfly 2, set USB mode to File Transfer/MTP, or enable USB debugging for ADB. In Device Manager, update the driver manually via “Browse my computer.”

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older HTC Sync Manager and existing HTC/Android USB drivers first. Remove stale “Android USB Devices” entries in Device Manager, reboot, then install only the latest standalone HTC driver.
