Name: HLDS GWA 4084B DVD Drive Driver
Author: HLDS

Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as administrator and temporarily disable antivirus. Verify the package explicitly lists HLDS GWA 4084B; generic HLDS or other DVD-drive drivers may abort. If setup still fails, use Windows Update or Device Manager to install the standard DVD/CD-ROM driver.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA/IDE and power cables, try another port, and confirm the drive appears in BIOS. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes; if needed, uninstall the device and restart so Windows re-detects it.

Question 3

Version conflicts after updating?

Accepted Answer

Open Device Manager, right-click the DVD drive, and roll back or uninstall the driver—select “Delete driver software” if prompted. Restart and let Windows load its inbox optical-drive driver before reinstalling the HLDS package.
