Name: HL DT ST RW DVD GCC 4244N ATA Device Driver
Author: LG

Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

This ATA DVD±RW drive normally uses Windows’ native CD/DVD driver. Don’t force a generic LG package unless it exactly matches the GCC 4244N. In Device Manager, uninstall the drive, rescan hardware, and check the ATA/IDE controller for errors.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm BIOS detects the drive, reseat the IDE/SATA data and power cables, and check the controller mode. In Windows, look for the drive in Disk Management and assign a drive letter if missing.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove duplicate/old optical-drive entries and third-party burning filters, reboot, and let Windows reinstall the native driver. If a recent update broke the drive, use Device Manager to roll back.
