Name: HL DT ST DVDRAM GT70N Driver
Author: LG

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the LG installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and use Windows compatibility mode. For this DVDRAM GT70N optical drive, Windows usually needs its built-in CD/DVD driver—do not install firmware as a driver.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA/power cable and try another port; confirm the drive appears in BIOS. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes, then uninstall any optical-drive entry with an error code and reboot.

Question 3

Version conflicts or duplicate entries?

Accepted Answer

Remove old/hidden HL-DT-ST optical-drive entries and third-party virtual-drive software. Let Windows install the generic driver; only apply LG firmware specifically matching the GT70N model, then reboot.
