Question 1

Install fails or Code 10/28?

Accepted Answer

This LG DVD-RAM drive usually works with Windows’ built-in CD/DVD driver. Don’t force an older LG package on Windows 10/11; uninstall the device in Device Manager (enable Show hidden devices), reboot, and let Windows reinstall the standard driver.

Question 2

Drive not detected / tray won’t eject?

Accepted Answer

Check the IDE/SATA power and data cables, confirm BIOS detects the GT20N, and try another cable/port. In Windows, rescan hardware; remove CDROM upper/lower filters only after backing up the Registry.

Question 3

Version conflicts / burning errors?

Accepted Answer

Remove duplicate optical-drive entries and old LG firmware utilities. Use Device Manager > Update driver > Browse > Let me pick, then select the Microsoft CD-ROM/DVD driver. Update firmware only from LG for the exact GT20N model.
