Question 1

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

The GP08NU20 is a USB optical drive and usually uses Windows’ built-in DVD/CD-ROM driver. Try a direct USB 2.0 port (not a hub), reseat or replace the USB cable, and power-cycle the drive. In Device Manager, check under DVD/CD-ROM drives; if missing, uninstall any unknown USB device and rescan.

Question 2

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

LG’s older package may not run on Windows 10/11. Don’t force it; let Windows install the native driver. If needed, run the installer as administrator in compatibility mode, and disconnect other optical drives during setup.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Third-party virtual-drive or burning software can conflict with the optical driver. Remove or disable virtual-drive tools, roll back the DVD/CD-ROM driver in Device Manager, and avoid mixing old LG firmware utilities with Windows Update drivers.
