Name: HL DT ST DVDRAM GH22NS40 ATA Device Driver
Author: LG

Question 1

Install fails or shows Code 10/28?

Accepted Answer

Remove any existing optical drive entry in Device Manager under DVD/CD-ROM drives, reboot, and let Windows install the native `cdrom.sys` driver. Avoid bundled driver packs.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the GH22NS40’s SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, confirm the drive appears in BIOS/UEFI, and ensure SATA mode is set consistently (AHCI recommended).

Question 3

Version conflicts after an update?

Accepted Answer

Roll back the optical drive driver in Device Manager. Use only LG firmware/drivers matching the exact GH22NS40 model; don’t force generic or third-party firmware.
