Question 1

Install fails or drive shows Code 39/Code 10?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any old optical-drive driver/firmware utility, remove the device in Device Manager (enable hidden devices), reboot, and let Windows install its native CD/DVD driver. Install LG firmware only if it explicitly matches the GH22LS50.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm the drive appears in BIOS. In Windows, rescan in Device Manager and assign a drive letter in Disk Management.

Question 3

Version conflicts after Windows updates?

Accepted Answer

Roll back the driver in Device Manager or remove duplicate/ghost optical devices. Avoid third-party driver packs; use LG’s GH22LS50 firmware rather than a generic DVD-RAM driver.
