Name: HL DT ST BDDVDRW CT21N ATA Device Driver
Author: LG

Question 1

Install fails or driver update errors?

Accepted Answer

Use the correct LG firmware/package for the CT21N, run it as administrator, close burning/ripping apps, and reboot. If Windows Update fails, use Device Manager > Update driver > Browse and let Windows install its native optical-drive driver.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the drive appears in BIOS/UEFI and check the SATA/power or slimline connection; try another port/cable. In Windows, rescan disks in Device Manager and assign a missing drive letter in Disk Management.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Avoid generic SATA/chipset “drivers” for this ATA optical drive. If it shows Code 19/39/41 after an update, uninstall the device, reboot, and roll back any OEM driver/firmware if burning or Blu-ray playback breaks.
