Name: Hitachi HTS547550A9E384 ATA Device Driver
Author: Hitachi

Question 1

Install fails?

Accepted Answer

The HTS547550A9E384 is a SATA hard drive and normally uses Windows’ inbox AHCI/ATA driver. Don’t force a generic “Hitachi HDD driver” or firmware utility; update the motherboard SATA/AHCI controller driver instead.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and check BIOS/UEFI for the drive. If BIOS doesn’t list it, Windows driver changes won’t help.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Keep BIOS SATA mode consistent (AHCI vs IDE/RAID). Remove leftover Intel RST/AMD SATA driver entries in Device Manager, reboot, and reinstall the correct controller driver.
