Author: Hercules

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Legacy Hercules/Kyro setup programs often reject modern Windows. Run the installer as Administrator in Windows XP compatibility mode; on 64-bit Windows, use an older OS or VM, since these drivers are typically unsigned/32-bit.

Question 2

Card not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the AGP card and check BIOS settings for AGP aperture, AGP 2x/4x mode, and disabled onboard video. Install the motherboard chipset/AGP GART driver before the Hercules driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts or black screen after install?

Accepted Answer

Boot into Safe Mode, remove existing Hercules/Kyro, NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel display drivers, then install only the matching 3D Prophet 4000XT package. Avoid mixing Windows 9x and XP driver versions.
