Question 1

Installer fails or says unsupported OS?

Accepted Answer

Confirm your exact HCL Notebook model and Windows edition/architecture in System Information. Run the driver installer as administrator and install the chipset/INF package before audio, network, or touchpad drivers.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

If Device Manager does not list Wi-Fi, audio, or touchpad, check BIOS for disabled onboard devices, install the chipset driver first, then rescan hardware. For USB/optical installs, try another port.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Windows Update may replace the HCL-approved driver and cause no sound, Wi-Fi drops, or BSODs. Use Device Manager > Roll Back Driver, or uninstall with “Delete driver software,” then reinstall the OEM version and pause automatic driver updates.
