Name: Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (26xxx) Driver
Author: Hauppauge

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Use the 26xxx-specific driver package, not a generic WinTV version. Run setup as administrator and, on newer Windows, try compatibility mode for the OS the driver was signed for. For unsigned legacy packages, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, then re-enable it.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Shut down and reseat the PCI card; confirm it appears in Device Manager as an unknown/multimedia device. Try another PCI slot and verify the card is marked 26xxx before installing.

Question 3

Version conflicts/software errors?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous Hauppauge/WinTV drivers and capture software, reboot, then install only the matching 26xxx driver. Don’t mix driver versions or leave older encoder/filter drivers installed.
