Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Hauppauge/WinTV setup as administrator, pause antivirus temporarily, and use the package matching your Windows version and architecture. Remove older WinTV/HVR-950Q drivers, reboot, then retry.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the tuner directly to a rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub. Check Device Manager for unknown or yellow-marked devices, confirm the USB cable, then reinstall the driver and rescan hardware.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing Hauppauge/WinTV software and tuner drivers, reboot, and install one consistent driver version. Avoid mixing Media Center, WinTV, and OEM packages; remove stale drivers in Device Manager if needed.
