Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Hauppauge HD PVR2 installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and unplug the capture device until setup asks for it. Remove older HD PVR driver packages first, then reboot.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub or front-panel port. In Device Manager, check for an unknown/disabled Hauppauge device; uninstall it, reconnect the HD PVR2, and let Windows reinstall the driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Hauppauge HD PVR drivers and stale Hauppauge Capture/ShowBiz installs before installing the current HD PVR2 package. Reboot, then reconnect the device only after setup completes.
