Name: Hauppauge Consumer Infrared Receiver Driver
Author: Hauppauge

Question 1

Install fails or exits early?

Accepted Answer

Unplug the Hauppauge receiver, run the WinTV/IR installer as administrator, and reboot before reconnecting. If Windows blocks the driver, check Hauppauge’s package for the correct Windows version rather than forcing an unrelated IR driver.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

In Device Manager, look under Human Interface Devices or USB controllers for an unknown device. Try a rear USB port directly, not a hub, and reconnect the receiver. Reinstall the Hauppauge IR driver if it shows a warning icon.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Hauppauge/WinTV IR software and other remote-control drivers first. In Device Manager, uninstall the receiver and delete its driver, then reinstall the matching package. If Windows Update replaces it, roll back to the Hauppauge driver.
