Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the scanner, close Scan and Windows Fax and Scan, run the downloaded Genius driver as Administrator, and temporarily disable antivirus during setup. Reboot before reconnecting.

Question 2

Scanner not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB port and cable (avoid hubs), check Device Manager for unknown devices, and confirm the scanner is powered on. For USB scanners, reinstall the driver after removing the old entry in Device Manager.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any older Genius or TWAIN/WIA driver in Programs and Features, restart, then install the version matching your Windows edition and scanner model. Avoid mixing 32-bit and 64-bit drivers.
