Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run Garmin Express/WebUpdater as administrator, disconnect the USB GPS during driver installation if prompted, and temporarily disable antivirus. Remove older Garmin USB drivers first, then reconnect the GPS.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try a different USB data cable and a direct rear USB port, not a hub. In Device Manager, check for an unknown device or entry under Ports (COM & LPT), update the driver, and confirm the GPS is in USB mode.

Question 3

Version conflicts/COM port errors?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Garmin USB drivers and Garmin Express, reboot, then install the latest package. If mapping software opens the wrong port, reassign the GPS COM port in Device Manager and reselect it in the app.
