Name: Garmin eTrex 30 Driver
Author: Garmin

Question 1

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a data-capable mini-USB cable and a direct rear USB port, not a hub. Power on the eTrex 30 and choose Mass Storage if prompted. Check Device Manager for an unknown device; try another cable/port.

Question 2

Driver/install fails?

Accepted Answer

The eTrex 30 normally uses Windows’ built-in USB mass-storage driver. Don’t force legacy Garmin USB drivers. Install current Garmin Express/WebUpdater as administrator, reboot, then reconnect.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Garmin USB Drivers or Garmin Express versions, reboot, and install the latest Garmin Express. Keep Windows updated, and avoid mixing legacy serial/USB drivers with the eTrex 30’s mass-storage connection.
