The Epson L220 driver enables Windows to communicate with your Epson ink tank all-in-one printer, allowing applications to send print jobs and use the available printing controls. For Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, select a package that explicitly supports your operating system and architecture. Although sometimes listed under Network, the L220 connects directly by USB and does not have built-in Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Key Features
- Printer communication: Helps Windows recognize the Epson L220 and send documents, photos, and other print jobs over a USB connection.
- Print settings: Provides controls for supported paper sizes, media types, orientation, and print quality so you can adjust output for everyday documents or images.
- Maintenance access: Compatible Epson software offers tools such as nozzle checks, print head cleaning, and alignment to help troubleshoot print-quality issues.
- Scanning support: A separate compatible scanner driver or Epson Scan package enables the all-in-one’s scanning functions; the printer driver alone may not include these components.
How to Install
- Check your Windows version. Confirm whether your computer runs Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7 and check its system type in Windows system information. Choose an Epson L220 driver package that lists support for that configuration rather than assuming every package works with every version.
- Prepare the printer. Turn on the L220 and complete any initial setup required by its instructions. Keep the USB cable disconnected from the computer until the installer requests it, unless the package instructions say otherwise.
- Run the installer. Open the downloaded setup file, approve the Windows permission prompt if shown, and follow the on-screen directions. Select the appropriate model and connection option when prompted.
- Connect and finish setup. Attach the printer directly to a working USB port when requested. Allow installation to complete, then install the compatible scanner software separately if you need scanning and it was not included.
- Verify operation. Open Windows printer settings, select the Epson L220, and print a test page. If you installed scanning software, try a preview scan as well. Restart the computer if the installer requests it.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Install fails or stalls: Disconnect the USB cable until the Epson L220 installer prompts for it. Run setup as administrator, close other printer software, and use the official L220 Windows driver for your OS version.
- Device not detected: Connect the L220 directly to a rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub. Power the printer on, check Device Manager for an unknown printer, and try another USB cable or port.
- Driver/version conflicts: Remove old Epson printer entries and drivers in Devices and Printers and Print Server Properties, restart Windows, then install the current L220 package. Avoid mixing a generic Windows driver with the Epson driver.
