Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the UA 4FX, uninstall any older Edirol/Roland USB audio driver, reboot, then run the installer as administrator with antivirus temporarily disabled. Reconnect only when setup asks.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct rear USB port instead of a hub, reseat or replace the USB cable, and check Device Manager for unknown devices. Confirm the UA 4FX’s mode/sample-rate switch is in the driver-supported position and power-cycle the interface.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove conflicting generic USB audio or old Edirol drivers, reboot, and install the correct 32-/64-bit UA 4FX driver. Avoid installing multiple Roland/Edirol driver versions; if Windows 10/11 blocks it, use compatibility mode or a supported legacy setup.
