The Discovery UVC Camera driver allows Windows to recognize the camera and make its video feed available to compatible applications. If the device is not detected or cannot be selected in your camera software, installing a suitable driver may help restore access on Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7.

Key Features

  • Camera recognition: Provides the connection Windows needs to identify the Discovery UVC Camera and communicate with it.
  • Video capture support: Makes the camera available to compatible recording, video calling, and preview applications.
  • UVC compatibility: USB Video Class cameras can often use a built-in Windows driver, so a separate manufacturer package may not be necessary.
  • Access to supported controls: Allows compatible software to use the camera’s available settings. Options such as resolution, frame rate, and exposure depend on the hardware and application.

How to Install

  1. Check your Windows version. Confirm whether you are using Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, and whether your installation is 32-bit or 64-bit. Choose a driver package that explicitly matches your system and camera model.
  1. Connect the camera first. Plug the Discovery UVC Camera into an available USB port, preferably directly on the computer. Allow Windows to detect it and try installing its built-in UVC driver before adding separate software.
  1. Install a compatible package if needed. If the camera still does not work and the manufacturer provides a matching driver, download and extract the package if required. Run its setup program and follow the instructions, including any prompts to disconnect or reconnect the camera.
  1. Use Device Manager for manual installation. If the package contains driver files but no installer, find the camera under Cameras, Imaging devices, or Other devices. Right-click it, select Update driver, and browse to the extracted folder. Do not force an incompatible driver.
  1. Restart and test the video feed. Restart Windows if prompted, then open a camera or video calling application and select the Discovery UVC Camera. If no image appears, check camera privacy permissions where available, close other applications using the device, and try another USB port.

Common Issues and Fixes

  • Install fails or rolls back: Run the installer as administrator and allow the signed driver. Disconnect the Discovery UVC Camera first, install, then reconnect. Check Windows Device Manager for a yellow warning icon and update the driver from there.
  • Camera not detected: Try a different USB port, preferably USB 2.0/3.0 directly on the PC, not a hub. Use a data-capable cable, confirm the camera LED/power, and check Device Manager under Cameras/Imaging devices.
  • Version conflicts or wrong driver loaded: Uninstall older UVC/vendor camera drivers and remove hidden devices in Device Manager. Reboot, then install the current Discovery UVC Camera package. In the camera app, allow camera access under Windows Privacy settings.
