The Bluetooth HID Device driver helps Windows communicate with compatible Bluetooth human interface devices, such as keyboards, mice, and game controllers. It enables the system to recognize supported input functions and handle commands from your paired device. Before downloading, check that the package supplied by the manufacturer matches your hardware and your version of Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7.
Key Features
- Bluetooth input support: Allows Windows to interpret keystrokes, pointer movements, button presses, and other supported HID inputs.
- Device recognition: Helps identify compatible Bluetooth HID hardware so the operating system can load the appropriate input support.
- Wireless connection integration: Works alongside the Bluetooth adapter driver and Windows Bluetooth services to support communication with paired peripherals.
- Hardware-specific compatibility: Provides the driver components required by supported devices; available functions depend on the peripheral and the selected driver package.
How to Install
- Confirm your device and Windows version. Open Device Manager and locate the Bluetooth HID Device entry. Check its properties and, if necessary, its hardware IDs to verify compatibility. Also confirm whether your Windows installation is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Download the matching driver. Choose a package that explicitly supports your hardware and operating system. A driver intended for Windows 7 or 8 should not be assumed compatible with Windows 10 or 11.
- Prepare the Bluetooth connection. Make sure your Bluetooth adapter is enabled and working correctly. Keep the peripheral charged or fitted with working batteries, and place it near the computer. If you are updating a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse, have a wired alternative available.
- Install the package. Extract the download if needed, then run the included installer and follow its instructions. If the package contains driver files without an installer, open Device Manager, right-click the relevant device, select Update driver, and browse to the extracted folder.
- Restart and test. Restart Windows if prompted, then check the peripheral’s basic controls. If it does not reconnect, remove it from Windows Bluetooth settings and pair it again.
Some Bluetooth HID devices use drivers already included with Windows and may not need a separate download. If installation does not resolve the issue, check the Bluetooth adapter driver as well—the HID driver alone cannot fix a disabled or malfunctioning adapter.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Install fails or rolls back: Disconnect the Bluetooth HID device, remove old HID/Bluetooth entries in Device Manager (enable “Show hidden devices”), then run the manufacturer’s installer as administrator and reconnect.
- Device not detected or pairs but doesn’t work: Confirm Bluetooth is on, the device is in pairing mode, and it isn’t connected to another host. Remove and re-pair it, then check Device Manager for warning icons and update the HID driver.
- Version conflicts after Windows Update: Roll back the Bluetooth/HID driver via Device Manager (Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver). If unavailable, uninstall the device and driver package, restart, and reinstall the manufacturer’s latest compatible version.
