The BenQ LCD Monitor driver helps Windows identify your display and use the model-specific settings supplied by Benq. Depending on the driver package, it may include a monitor information (INF) file and a color profile to support correct display recognition and color management on Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7.
Key Features
- Model-specific identification: Allows Windows to recognize a supported BenQ monitor by its model name rather than a generic display label.
- Display capability information: Supplies monitor details that help Windows identify supported resolutions and refresh rates. Available settings also depend on your graphics hardware, cable, and connection.
- Color profile support: Some packages include an ICC or ICM profile for use with Windows color management and compatible applications.
- Monitor configuration support: Complements your graphics driver with display-specific information. This is a monitor driver, not a replacement for an Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA GPU driver.
How to Install
- Confirm your monitor model and Windows version. Check the label on the back of the display or its on-screen information menu. Select a package that explicitly supports your model and your installed version of Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7.
- Download and extract the package. Save the driver to an accessible folder. If it is compressed, extract its contents before starting installation. Review any included instructions for model-specific requirements.
- Run the installer, if provided. Follow the setup prompts and approve administrator access when requested. If the package contains only driver files, use Device Manager instead.
- Install manually when needed. Open Device Manager, expand Monitors, right-click the relevant display, and choose Update driver. Select Browse my computer for drivers and point Windows to the extracted folder. If necessary, use Let me pick, then Have Disk, to select the matching INF file.
- Verify your display settings. Restart if prompted, then check the monitor’s resolution and refresh rate in Windows display settings. If a color profile was included, follow the package instructions to confirm its association with the correct monitor.
If Windows already identifies the display correctly, a separate monitor driver may not noticeably change its operation. For missing resolution options, flickering, or connection problems, also check the graphics driver and display cable; installing a monitor INF alone may not resolve those issues.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Monitor not detected / shown as Generic PnP Monitor: Check the video cable and selected input source, power-cycle both monitor and PC, then use Device Manager > Monitors > Update driver > Browse to the extracted BenQ INF. Avoid “Search automatically” if Windows keeps reinstalling the generic monitor driver.
- Driver install fails: Extract the BenQ download before installing. In Device Manager, choose “Have Disk” and point to the correct model INF. Confirm the package matches your exact LCD model and Windows version, run as administrator, and temporarily allow the installer if antivirus blocks it.
- Version or duplicate-device conflicts: In Device Manager, enable View > Show hidden devices, remove old or duplicate BenQ monitor entries, uninstall the previous monitor driver, reboot, then install the latest package. Reset Windows color management if an old BenQ ICC profile conflicts.
