The Behringer X32 driver enables Windows audio software to communicate with the digital mixer through its compatible USB audio expansion card. Installing the correct driver helps your computer recognize the interface and supports multichannel recording and playback in a digital audio workstation (DAW). For Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, choose a manufacturer-provided package that explicitly supports both your operating system and the card installed in your X32.
Key Features
- Multichannel USB audio: Send mixer channels to your recording software and return audio to the console, with available channel counts depending on the installed expansion card and configuration.
- ASIO support: Use compatible Windows recording applications with adjustable audio buffers to balance latency and playback stability.
- Recording and playback integration: Make the X32’s audio interface available to supported applications for live capture, studio sessions, and virtual soundchecks.
- Interface configuration: Access the settings supported by your driver package, such as buffer size and audio status, to help match the interface to your project.
How to Install
- Identify your expansion card and Windows version. Check whether your X32 uses an X-USB, X-LIVE, or another compatible interface card. Driver requirements can differ, so do not assume that every X32 package works with every card or Windows release.
- Download the matching driver from the manufacturer. Read the package’s compatibility notes for Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, including any system architecture requirements. Extract the download if it arrives as a compressed archive.
- Run the installer. Close your DAW and other audio applications, then launch the setup program with administrator permissions if prompted. Follow its instructions about when to connect or disconnect the mixer.
- Connect and configure the interface. Use the expansion card’s USB audio connection—not a USB port intended for storage or control. Power on the mixer, allow Windows to finish detecting it, and restart the computer if requested.
- Select the driver in your audio software. Choose the installed ASIO interface in your DAW’s audio preferences. Confirm that the mixer routing, project sample rate, and input/output assignments match your session, then test recording and playback.
If the interface does not appear, recheck the card-specific driver, USB connection, and application settings before reinstalling. The USB audio driver is separate from mixer firmware and remote-control software.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Install fails or rolls back: Uninstall any older X-USB driver first, run the installer as administrator, and temporarily disable third-party antivirus. Reboot before reinstalling.
- X32 not detected: Confirm the X-USB card is seated and selected, use a known data USB cable in a rear USB 2.0 port, power-cycle the X32, then rescan Device Manager.
- Version/sample-rate conflicts: Remove old X-USB/ASIO drivers before updating. Set the X32 and DAW to the same sample rate—usually 48 kHz—and matching clock source. Avoid using the X32 as the Windows default output when using ASIO.
