The ARRIS RNDIS Adapter driver helps Windows recognize a compatible ARRIS device as a network adapter over USB. Using Remote Network Driver Interface Specification (RNDIS), it allows the computer to exchange network traffic with the connected device. For Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, choose a driver package that matches your Windows version and system architecture.
Key Features
- USB network connectivity: Enables a supported ARRIS device to provide a network connection through its USB interface.
- RNDIS support: Provides the driver interface Windows needs to communicate with compatible RNDIS networking hardware.
- Windows network integration: Makes the adapter available to Windows networking tools so you can view connection status and configure network settings.
- Device recognition: A correctly matched driver can resolve missing-driver warnings and help Windows identify the adapter properly in Device Manager.
How to Install
- Check your system and device. Confirm your Windows version and whether it uses a 32-bit or 64-bit architecture. Verify that the download supports your specific ARRIS hardware; the adapter name alone may not identify every compatible model.
- Download and prepare the driver. Save the appropriate package to your computer. If it is compressed, extract its contents before installation. If this adapter is your only network connection, use another computer to download the package and transfer it with a USB drive.
- Run the installer or use Device Manager. If the package includes a setup program, launch it and follow the prompts. Otherwise, connect the ARRIS device, open Device Manager, and locate the adapter under Network adapters or Other devices. Right-click it, select Update driver, then choose Browse my computer for drivers and point Windows to the extracted folder.
- Complete setup. Allow Windows to finish installing the driver, then restart the computer if prompted. Make sure the ARRIS device is powered on and connected with a USB cable that supports data transfer.
- Verify the connection. Check that the ARRIS RNDIS Adapter appears without a warning icon in Device Manager, then review its connection in Windows network settings. If connectivity is still unavailable, confirm the device’s USB networking configuration and try a different USB port before reinstalling.
The driver enables communication with the adapter; internet access also depends on the connected ARRIS device, its configuration, and an active upstream connection.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Install fails or shows Code 10/28: Run the ARRIS package as administrator and confirm it matches your Windows version. If Windows blocks the installer, open Device Manager, right-click the RNDIS adapter, choose Update driver > Browse, and point to the extracted `.inf` files.
- Device not detected: Try a different USB port and cable, avoid unpowered hubs, and check Device Manager for an unknown device or “RNDIS” entry. Uninstall the device, rescan, and confirm USB tethering/RNDIS mode is enabled on the connected ARRIS device.
- Version conflict with Windows’ built-in RNDIS driver: Uninstall existing RNDIS adapter entries, reboot, then install the ARRIS-provided driver. If Windows reinstalls its inbox driver, use Roll Back Driver or update manually to the ARRIS version.
