Name: D Link DFE 690TXD CardBus PC Card Driver
Author: D-Link

Question 1

Install fails or driver is unsigned?

Accepted Answer

Run the D-Link setup as Administrator. On Windows Vista/7, use Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP3; for older unsigned packages, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, install, then re-enable it. Use the 32-bit driver only on 32-bit Windows.

Question 2

Card not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the DFE-690TXD fully in the CardBus slot and confirm the PCMCIA/CardBus controller is enabled in BIOS. Try another slot; if no link LED appears, test the card in a known-working older laptop.

Question 3

Version conflicts or duplicate adapters?

Accepted Answer

In Device Manager, uninstall any existing D-Link adapter and select “Delete the driver software,” reboot, then install the correct DFE-690TXD driver. Prevent Windows from auto-installing a generic PCMCIA Ethernet driver.
